Walkaround: 2011 Chevy Volt

There has been a lot of contriversy about the Chevy Volt, it is an electric car, is it a hybrid car, is it something inbetween.  Who cares, what it is, is brilliant!  We are in the middle of our week with the car, and we think it's a 5 Star kind of car.

We will have more in a few weeks, but what we want to do now is take your for a walkaround of the car and have a look at some of the features and highlights.  This video is a bit long, but it is very through.

So what's up with the Volt's MPG calculation? Isn't that misleading? You're not really getting 250+MPG. If all of your trips are short and you don't use any gas, then you would have infinite MPG! Why not show Volt owner's what they are actually getting? Why not give the customer a number that they can effectively compare with other vehicles, ev, gas or hybrid? That's why they came up with the MPGe right? A proper calculation accounts for all energy used.

With the way the Volt calculates its achieved MPG, displaying 500+MPG or 1000+MPG would be just as accurate! Guess this would raise too many questions huh GM? 250+MPG?, yeah, people might just believe it. Any higher and people might start to question it. We can't have any of that now...

I like the car. I just don't like that center console. Looks like a kitchen appliance or something. Too much shiny plastic.
